Why diversity is always being victimized?

In April 2014 when the United Nations Organization’s secretary general Ban Ki Moon was making a statement that the UN was ashamed of the human killing all over the world a Shia doctor was killed in Karachi terrorists.
Perhaps, the way shia community has become a victim of terrorists belonging to other sects, has become a personification of terrorism. The brutality of such killings can be measured by the number of events took place during the last year. Despite the increase of targeted killings of shias in general and shia leaders in particular the government and international human rights organizations have been unsuccessful to foresee the threat present in the society and to take reasonable security measures.
The horrible and ruthless genocide of shia community must be comprehended in the meaning of Pakistan’s position within the larger sectarian struggle between sunnis and shias supported by international elements. The international tensions present in Pakistan’s neighborhood have domestic implications as twenty percent population of Pakistan believes in shia faith making nearly twenty-five million people who are being threatened by other Muslims/terrorists by sectarian outfits.
Pakistan is a signatory to the Convention on the Punishment and Prevention of Genocide which clearly describes that a genocide occurs when a party/group has the willingness to devastate a religious, ethnic, or racial group “in whole, or in part” and acts on that intent by killing, injuring, or deliberately causing conditions leading to the physical destruction of that group.
Interestingly, the explanation of genocide in the convention looks like a very well thought-out definition according to the shia community’s genocide in Pakistan where the visible elements working against shia community are Taliban and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ). Both of them have openly committed brutal murders of shias with the motive of cleansing Pakistan of their presence. Not only the high profile shia community members like doctors, lawyers and judges have been targeted but also shia religious processions and pilgrims have repeatedly been targeted in mass-shooting attacks. The bloodshed does not end here as the Hazara shias have been attacked many times with several car bombings that have left hundreds dead in the last couple of years.
The bitter reality would not be changed unless the government takes exemplary measures along with the involvement of international community to end the brutal killings of shia community in Pakistan. Taliban, other extremists and people belonging to other sects need to learn harsh lessons to make Pakistan a safe place for shia community.

Peshawar Tragedy Demands Taliban’s Destruction

The time has come to decide whether we have to be slaves of terrorists or do we have to get rid of them forever. It has never been an imagination of any sensible person on earth what we witnessed in Peshawar. Slaying children brutally could never be allowed by any nation or creed in the world.
The question rises where has been the actual fault? Undoubtedly, our army has played a commendable role in fighting such elements but after being involved in such a long war over a period of more than ten years, is this what we have achieved against the terrorists? We are vulnerable up to the extent that our children have become unsafe. The most hate-able phenomenon has hit the country and that is our children are at risk now. We are unable to protect the next generation of Pakistan. Soft targets have been hit by the terrorists earlier as well but this incident was the filthiest one.
Those, used to sympathize terrorists by putting a line of good or bad Taliban, should at least be aware now that there is no one who can be ‘good’ among the Taliban. All of the terrorists are one force and we cannot draw a line between two sides. The incident has also made it clear Taliban that aim no other agenda than conquering the country to carry out their ulterior motives. Had there been an inspiration from religion in front of them they would not have acted so cruelly to the little ones. They don’t even have faith in humanity. Keeping the shield of religion as an excuse and showing their faith in it does not really prove that they belong to any religion. It is their action and terrorism that proves them to be part of none of the religions.
There can be nothing worse than this recent attack to children. Nonetheless, the assault came during a relative period in the terrorist violence that has shattered Pakistan in recent years. The military has been engaged in a major offensive in the militant haven of North Waziristan, and there had been relatively few retaliatory attacks by the Pakistani Taliban. We should also not forget that Taliban coming up with such a strong force proves a success of the military in the ongoing operation as well. The manner Taliban have launched the attack shows how deep and how strongly have they been hit by the army. The statement coming from the Taliban after the attack that they wanted the Pakistan government to realize the pain for the operation showed how strongly they were damaged by the operation.
The dilemma of the incident is that the horrible attack has begun a new phase of the Taliban’s strategy against Pakistan government in which they have shook the entire structure of the country’s war against terrorism. Though Taliban are strongly condemned and cursed by the whole world before and after this incident, but the intensity of the incident has urged the government and the army to destroy Taliban completely and without any delay.
